About the Author
Diane Wainwright-Garbe is a Canadian author whose lived experience of childhood trauma—and the healing journey that followed—inspired her memoir, Mommy and Daddy Dearest: Invisible Scars from Invisible Trauma.
Diane began putting words to the experiences that quietly shaped her beliefs, relationships, emotions, and reactions for much of her life. Along the way, she came to understand something life-changing: nothing was wrong with her. She was not broken. The responses she had once viewed as flaws were adaptations learned in order to survive.
My Mission
Writing with honesty, warmth, and deep compassion, Diane hopes to help others understand their own stories, recognize unhealthy patterns, and release the shame surrounding their survival responses.
Through her memoir, Reader's Reflections, and practical Emotional Life Hacks, she gently encourages readers to move toward greater self-awareness, safety, and peace.
The past may help explains who we became, but it does not have to determine who we become.
